After you have installed the channel, you can either wait for the Roku device to check for updates or you can force it to check. To check for new updates, go to your Roku and open the Roku Channel Store. After the channel store is opened, close it to force the Roku to update any new installed channels. Also, it would be cool to see a CanadaTVnow and a UKTVnow. If they get good results with this channel, it should not be too far fetched to expect these additions to be added in the future.

For now, there is also the Roku Private Channel which allows you to watch live television however you are at the mercy of the people who are streaming the content. USTVnow is pretty much identical to having a tv service.

This Jan. 7, 2013 article here on USTVNOW does not make it clear, that if you want an account, and you are in the US now, that you will not be able to sign up for a free account, to use in the US. So, in effect, you cannot subscribe to the $19.99 plan and watch, if you are in the US. This became in effect in 2012.

That is true, however there is a pretty easy workaround. Try the steps below and you should be able to watch the channel.

Step by Step Guide to Install USTV NOW

1.) Click the link to add the USTV Live channel to your Roku:

2.) You must use a proxy service or VPN to sign up from another country or it will block you from watching live TV inside USA.

3.) Copy and Paste URL below from your VPN or Prox Service:

4.) Click the Sign Up For Free Button and Create your account. Use any email address.

5.) After checking your email and confirming the account. In your Roku go to the USTVNow channel and get your link code.

6.) Visit and add the linking code. After 60 seconds your account will be live along with a guide.

7.) Once you have completed these steps watch live Network TV shows on your Roku.

After a month they will charge you although you will receive many additional cable channels. They also include a DVR service which let’s you time shift shows like Tivo. For cable cutters it may not be worth the added cost. Free channels are in SD not HD, although picture quality is pretty good.

Unfortunately TV programming is on the Eastern Time Zone. If your on the West Coast, you get to watch late night television during prime time.

For those that are having a tough time getting any TV signal reception, USTV Now is an another alternative.

For each Roku box at our house do we have to subscribe?

For the first few years of Cartoon Network’s existence, programming meant for Cartoon Network would also be simulcast on TBS and/or TNT in order to increase the shows’ (and Cartoon Network’s) exposure; examples include The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest, Cartoon Planet, and 2 Stupid Dogs.,

I just attempted to view with my “free” account for USTVNow. It tells me that I must upgrade on the ustvnow website to view the basic Harrisburg/York and Clearfield and State College (all PA) OTA networks. I was able to view, until they disallowed Roku viewers to see the free accounts. It’s been a few months since the last person mentioned it. It is still the same. However, I wonder if this is the same as the “USTV Free” app. This app has some of the same channels and is viewable on phones and tablets. Granted, it’s not on Roku, but it’s a workaround. You also get some of the above requested channels. v

This is my suggestion, to get around the block of USTV Now.

    • RokuChannels says:

They decided to be jerks and set a limit (1 week I think) before it bugs you to upgrade on the Roku. I guess if you try it out within the week and feel it is worth the price, then it isn’t a bad deal.

So if I buy the 19.99 package it includes TBS. I will be abkle to watch the World Series??

I live in the US btw.

  11. Toni Taylor says:

Do you show all Discovery channels, like Discovery ID?? That would cinch it for me!

  12. jen says:

What is the point of having so many channels you have to have a cable account to use. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a Roku. Like Lifetime that was added this week.
